More from Joe Harris

Chris Miller | Colleges, General | Saturday, June 28th, 2008

I will have a column in Sunday’s paper about former Lejeune High School basketball standout Joseph Harris, now playing for Coastal Carolina University in Conway, S.C.

Here are some extra quotes from Joe that I did not use in the column.

On returning from his thumb injury: “I am just happy to play. Sitting last year was a drag, so just to get out there and not get hurt and have fun with my team again (means a lot).”

On plans after college: “First of all I want to persue a career in basketball, then try to go medical school be a pediatrician.”

On the influences his parents (Master Gunnery Sgt. John and Karen Harris of

Camp

Lejeune
) have provided to him: “My parents, they have been to every game but three and it means a lot they care and want to see you do well. I am very proud of my dad, he just came back from

Iraq
and I couldn’t imagine myself doing what he does.”

On his Coastal

Carolina teammates: “We are real close.”
