More from soccer folks at camp
Jacksonville coach Dave Miller –
“(This camp is good) to get the kids ready for season and have a chance to look at teams and kids we don’t play.”
Dixon coach Kevin Hicks –
“We seem to be a team full of midfielders and defenders. We ran five different combinations last night. We have a small number of kids play club ball.
“Everyone else in the camp is a higher class, so that’s good for us.”
White Oak coach Buddy Carroll –
“(After the girls state title), I just went straight ahead and starting thinking about getting the boys prepared. We definitely have a lot coming back. Hopefully they will continue program going forward.”
Swansboro coach Doug Kidd –
“We have talked about the celebrations and how the town has reacted (following our state title). It has been very overwhelming.
“We will be solid in the back with both goalkeepers back. We could see a player or two move up and contribute to attack. The question will be goal production. We have generated chances but have not scored lot this week.”
Swansboro junior Megan Watson –
“At first it (winning championship) didn’t seem as big as it is. Now, looking back, it’s a big thing, and people are still talking about it.
“I look forward to next year. We don’t want to dwell on it (title), though.”
